Rodents can also be a fire risk with a tendency to gnaw live wires. The most common rodents to cause problems to domestic properties and businesses are the Brown rat (Rattus Norvegicus) and the House Mouse (Mus Domesticus) as these are known as commensal rodents and so 'share ones table'. Another likely rodent is the field mouse, however these are less commensal as they usually go back outside rather than nest inside a property. They can however still cause damage and spread disease.
