Signs of a Cockroach Infestation

Common signs of a infestation include:

.Live adults and Nymph's: The two most common Cockroach species here in Cumbria tends to be The German cockroach and the Oriental cockroach.
The German cockroach is most commonly found indoors. It is light brown in colour with two black longitudinal strips on the back of their head. They are around 13-16mm in size.
The Oriental cockroach is larger in size around 18-28mm. They are black in colour and can be found indoors and outdoors.
. Droppings: typically dark brown or black and barrel shaped. The droppings contain pheromones which attract more cockroaches.
.Castings: As the Nymphs grow through multiple stages towards an adult, they shed. Nymphs look exactly like adults, only smaller.
.Eggs: Female cockroaches lay egg cases (ootheca).  Cockroach oothecas are usually white or dark brown depending on the species and look like a small bean.
.Odour: Often associated with larger infestations. A mouldy foul smell.

Why use Lakeland Pest Solutions

Due to cockroaches being a difficult pest to eradicate completely, experience is needed. Here at Lakeland Pest Solutions we have the knowledge and expertise of the cockroach biology to provide an effective treatment.

A usual cockroach treatment consists of:

.Inspection: We will come out and assess the extent of the infestation and provide a plan to effectively eliminate and control the infestation.
.Treatment: A gel bait treatment is usually opted for. The gel is safe to other animals and humans. It provides a fast chemical free treatment with a large majority of cockroaches eliminated within 24 hours. The cannibalistic trait of the cockroach also means that dead roaches consumed will pass on the insecticide down the food chain. Multiple treatments are often required depending on the level of infestation.
.Monitoring: At Lakeland Pest Solutions we carry ou thorough monitoring when treating premises for cockroaches. This not only allows us to check activity levels between each visit, but ensure the infestation is completely dealt with. This is more so when eradicating Oriental cockroaches as the females deposit their ootheca 6-8 weeks before hatching. This can mean that although an infestation appears to be gone, you can never be certain.
